Hawaiʻi without its indigenous birth practitioners is like giving mansanto reigns over our native ag lands- not right. Women’s health is one of the most underrepresented groups in the United States of America. It’s a woman’s right to choose the type of support needed for her body that is ‘Āina. Every part of pregnancy is vital, including kāne. Without the medical, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual support of both male and female, the chances of having a successful pregnancy and a healthy keiki are low. Our indigenous birth workers possess a set of skills passed down from generations of understanding all aspects of care- wahine, kāne, and pē.
